Club and Sponsor's Provide Prizes

The purpose of this program is to recognize and reward the outstanding students in Union County elementary schools, who made an effort to improve themselves in school. The Weddington Optimist Club will recognize nine (9) children from grades 3, 4 and 5 of each of the thirty elementary schools thru out the county. The 269 students will be selected by the teachers and guidance counselors and submitted to the principal of each school.

Children will be selected by merit. Possible selection criterion are: attendance improvement, attitude improvement, grade improvement, quality of work improvement and participation in class improvement.

How to be a sponsor:
We always are looking for sponsors for all our events. For this event we give out goodie bags and are always looking for items. Examples: School items such as pencils, pads, glue sticks, candy, water bottles, anything that would fit in a brown paper bag. We also accept Grand Prizes such as Skateboards, Bikes, Rollerblades, Gift Certificates. We would love to have anything you or your business might be able to donate. We also accept monetary donations. Please remember all items donated are tax deductible.
