Essay Contest

Topic: “How my positive Outlook benefits my community”

Every year, high school students from all over North America participate in the Optimist Essay contest. Each Optimist club conducts competitions for youth under age 19 who are in the 10th, 11th or 12th grades. Essays are to be 400 to 500 words in length. This relates to about two type-written pages. The essays will be judged at the club level, with the top entry being submitted to the North Carolina West Optimist District finals. The District winner is eligible to attend the "Freedom and Leadership Conference" at the Freedoms Foundation in Valley Forge. The District winner is awarded a $2500.00 college scholarship. All entrants will receive a lapel pin and certificate of participation.  Essays are due to the club no later than 2/17/12.
